Man Fatally Shot During Fight In McDonald's Parking Lot

A man critically injured during a fight that broke out early Friday morning in the parking lot of a McDonald's in Jessup has died.

JESSUP, MD — A man shot Friday in Jessup in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant has died of his injuries, police report.

Around 3:30 a.m. Dec. 19, Howard County Police were called to the 8700 block of Washington Boulevard for a report of a shooting. They found 25-year-old Tysean Berry with gunshot wounds. He was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where he was listed in critical condition, according to police, but then died later Friday afternoon.

During the investigation, police learned that Berry got into a physical fight in a McDonald's parking lot with a group of people. During the fight, 22-year-old Christian Kinuthia of Windsor Mill shot Berry. No one else was injured, police reported.

Kinuthia was taken into custody at the scene and has been charged with attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault. He is being held at the Howard County Detention Center on no bond.
