Bodycam Video Of Man With Spear Killed By Police Released
A man stabbed a family member with a spear and was fatally shot by Howard County Police. Bodycam video of the incident has been released.
COLUMBIA, MD — Police body camera footage of a Columbia man accused of stabbing his brother with a spear and then rushing toward a Howard County Police officer with the weapon was released Wednesday by state investigators.
Micah Booker, 23, of Columbia was armed with a large double-edge spear June 9 when he was fatally shot by Howard County police officers. Authorities said Booker was found by officers near a bus stop at Oakland Mills Road and Carters Lane, armed with multiple weapons.
Police video showed Booker running toward a police officer in the street holding the spear and then the officer shooting Booker in the head.

The Independent Investigations Division of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General on released the body-worn camera footage from the fatal shooting.
Sherry Llewellyn, a spokesperson for the Howard County Police Department, said Samuel Louie Booker IV, 26, of Columbia reported to police his brother had stabbed him multiple times, WBAL reported. Soon after, the suspect called police to say he stabbed his brother.

Police said Micah Booker repeatedly stabbed his brother with the 30-inch-long spear inside a home in the area of Carters Lane and Oakland Mills Road. The family member was treated at an area hospital.
The police officer who fired the shots is Howard County Police Officer Michael McKee, a two-year veteran of the department, assigned to the field operations command.
The attorney general's office continues to investigate the circumstances of the fatal shooting.
