Brighton Dam Upgrade To Begin June 1
The project will replace screens, gates, plates and heaters, and replacement of the concrete spillway and will result in a one lane bridge.

From Howard County: A Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission maintenance project to upgrade the Brighton Dam on Brighton Dam Road in Brookeville is scheduled to begin on or about Thursday, June 1. The project will include replacement of screens, gates, plates and heaters, strengthening of gates, recoating of gates, and replacement of the concrete spillway surface. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed by mid-April 2019.
For the duration of the project, the Brighton Dam Road bridge will be reduced to a one-lane bridge over the dam. A temporary traffic signal will be installed to direct motorists. Intermittent delays may be expected as contractors move equipment and materials to and from the site.
