Pedestrian Killed In Columbia Hit-And-Run Crash: Police

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information, according to the Howard County Police Department.

COLUMBIA, MD — Howard County police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the vehicle that struck and killed a pedestrian overnight in Columbia.

The body of Joseph Shawn Deliberts, 32, of Columbia, was found by a passerby in the median of Snowden River Parkway south of Oakland Mills Road Thursday morning just before 6 a.m., the police department said.

Investigators said they believe Deliberts was skateboarding on the travel portion of the roadway when he was struck.

At this early stage of the investigation, police have not confirmed what time the incident occurred.

Police said they believe the suspect's vehicle is likely a 2015-2018 Volkswagen Jetta, unknown color, with damage to the driver-side front end. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information.

Snowden River Parkway was closed in both directions between Oakland Mills and Rustling Leaf for approximately three hours.
