School Staffer Had Sex With Student, Faces Charges: Police

A special education paraeducator has been arrested after Howard County Police say he had sex with a 15-year-old boy in his vehicle.

JESSUP, MD — A male high school staff member has been charged in connection to the sexual assault of a teenage boy off school property after the pair met through a dating app.

Howard County police have charged a special education paraeducator at Guilford Park High School in Jessup with a third-degree sexual offense following an encounter with a 15-year-old student Nov. 12.

Detectives stated that William Nelson II, 26, of Elkridge, met the teenage victim through a dating app and had sex in Nelson’s vehicle. The victim reported the incident to school staff who then contacted police. Nelson was arrested at the school Nov. 13. Detectives do not believe the two interacted at or outside of the school before meeting through the dating app, according to the police department.

Nelson is being held at the Howard County Detention Center.

According to the Howard County Public School System, it placed Nelson on administrative leave immediately upon hearing of the allegation.

The investigation is ongoing, the police department stated.
