Unwanted Prescriptions, Meds Can Be Dropped Off At Drive-Thru Event

HC DrugFree, along with the police department, is hosting a drive-thru drug take back event Saturday in Columbia from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Residents can dispose of unwanted medications, vitamins, inhalers and more Saturday in the Wilde Lake Village Center parking lot.

Oct. 25 happens to be National Prescription Drug Take Back Day and HC DrugFree is leading the initiative in Howard County. The drive-thru event will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and is held in partnership with the Howard County Police Department. Pills can remain in bottles and there's no need to remove labels, event organizers said.

  • Prescription medication
  • Over-the-counter meds
  • Vitamins
  • Vape devices with batteries removed
  • Inhalers
  • Pet medication

Sharps, including needles, syringes and EpiPens, will not be collected at this event. They can be placed in an empty plastic bottle, such as a detergent bottle and disposed off with the curbside trash, according to the Howard County Bureau of Environmental Services.
