Band Camp, Political Candidates and Pancakes
Here's a look at the week ahead in Crofton and Gambrills.

It looks like a busy week in the Crofton area. Here are five events worth keeping an eye on.
1. Band Camp Starts Monday. The musicians from Arundel High will begin their intense practices (Remember to hydrate!) as they prepare for the upcoming school year. The band camp preview show will be on August 16 at 6 p.m.
2. Pruski to Announce Candidacy - Gambrills resident and school board member Andrew Pruski will formally announce his candidacy for the District 4 seat on the County Council. The event will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Odenton fire hall.
3. Pancakes for a Cure at Applebee's - On Saturday from 8-10 a.m., come out for a fundraiser for CureSearch, a group that funds research for children's cancers. Alyssa Klebasko, a young Odenton resident who recently finished treatments for Leukemia, will be on hand.
4. 'National Night Out' on Tuesday - The community will take a stand against crime at 5 p.m. Tuesday near the Crofton Library with demonstrations from the police and fire department and information on how citizens can get more involved in public safety.
5. Lottery Hits $400 Million. - No one hit the Powerball jackpot on Saturday. That brings the biz prize to the fourth-highest in history. The next drawing will be on Wednesday evening.
