Chesapeake Bay Coffee Now Available for Keurig Machines

Coffee lovers who make single servings with their Keurig machines can now brew cups from Chesapeake Bay Roasting Co. 

Crofton-based Chesapeake Bay Roasting Co. is now selling single-serve coffee cups, and said they are fully recyclable and compatible with the popular Keurig K-Cup brewers. The cups are available at Safeway stores beginning this week. 

Chespeake Bay Roasting officials said the company held off on introducing a single-cup product until technology allowed it to make a product that was 100 percent recyclable. The company said the cup has a proprietary mesh filter.

Chesapeake Bay Roasting has introduced its medium-dark roast blend, River’s Edge, for single servings. Other blends will be available later. 

Consumer researcher Packaged Facts reported in July that single-cup coffee sales in the U.S. jumped by 82 percent from $1 billion in 2011 to more than $1.8 billion in 2012. It estimated that sales will reach $5 billion by 2016.
