Crofton Yoga Celebrates Anniversary with $10 Classes

The studio on Route 3 is offering sessions on Friday night and Sunday to thank the community.

Out on Route 3, there is obvious evidence of this area's addiction to the hustle and bustle. But just off the road, there's a sanctuary that many local residents have been visiting for years.

Crofton Yoga is celebrating its 10th anniversary, and will offer a series of classes this weekend for customers and anyone who wants to try it out. There will be $10 classes on Friday and on Sunday, featuring sessions in partner yoga, meditative postures and yoga nidra, commonly referred to as "lucid sleep."

It's all part of a effort to thank the community for support, and part of the proceeds will go to Kripalu’s Teaching to Diversity Program.

"It's a little surreal, I can't believe we've been open that long," studio co-owner Shelbi Miles said. "But we're really proud ... this is our town. Our kids go to school here and we're ingrained in the community."

Miles runs the studio along with friend Emily Gretz. The pair taught together at a studio in Severna Park, then opened their own studio in Crofton. The studio offers a wide range of classes, ranging from prenatal yoga to pilates and even classes for children. There's even a "Yoga for Cyclists" class that was introduced this year.

"People in Crofton are people with really stressful jobs," Miles said. "A lot of them love to come in for their weekly fix."

Crofton Yoga is located at 2431 Crofton Lane, Suite 11.

There will be $10 classes on Friday, Oct. 4 from 6-7:30 p.m., and on Sunday, Oct. 6 from 1-2:30 p.m. Tea and cookies will be served Sunday at 2:30 p.m, followed by a Yoga Nidra class at 3 p.m. Space is limited so registration is required.
