Local Charity Honored at Anne Arundel County Disability Awareness Day
The County Commission on Disability Issues will recognize Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating this month.

The Anne Arundel County Commission on Disability Issues recently announced the honoree at this year’s Disability Awareness Day: Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating.
The Annapolis-based non-profit organization aims to help physically and developmentally impaired community members experience the benefits and enjoyment of sailing. Some of the programs at Chesapeake Region Accessible Boating include competitive racing events, as well as free introductory sailing one Sunday each month from April to October.
Disability Awareness Day will take place on Saturday, Oct. 25, at Westfield Annapolis Mall from 1 to 4 p.m. According to a press release from the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities, the day’s festivities will include interactive exhibits, live entertainment from Garland Cox and the students from The Harbour School, and informational resources on current issues facing the disabled within the community.
