Make-A-Wish Gives Out Princess Treatment in Gambrills

Katelyn, a 4-year-old who is in remission from cancer, got a princess party and a new princess-themed bedroom.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation held a special "princess" party Wednesday for a young girl overcoming cancer on Wednesday, complete with an appearance from Rapunzel.

The party was hosted at the Maryland Green Designer Show Home in Gambrills, which was constructed in part to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Katelyn, a Waldorf resident, will also get a new princess-themed bedroom thanks to Make-A-Wish volunteers. She is currently in remission from cancer.

"At first she said 'let's go swimming' but we told her she'd have to dream bigger," Katelyn's mother, Jen, said.

It is the policy of Make-A-Wish to not reveal the last names of wish recipients and their families.

The Maryland Green Designer Show home was constructed by Baldwin Homes to be energy efficient and ultra-friendly to the environment. Money from tours of the home resulted in $7,800 toward Make-A-Wish, and any proceeds from the sale of the house— priced at just under $1.3 million—will be split between Make-A-Wish and Hospice of the Chesapeake.
