Sunrise Farm to Host 'Alternative Spring Break'

Students from colleges in Virginia will assist in a tree planting as part of a program organized by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.

Ten students from Virginia Tech and the University of Virginia will be eschewing trips to Cancun or Daytona Beach this week in favor of doing some good for the environment.

The students will take part in an "alternative spring break" sponsored by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, which includes a trip to Maryland Sunrise Farm in Gambrills.

On Friday, the students will help prepare for the planting of 1,000 trees at Sunrise Farm, to be used to block pollution from getting close to a nearby creek.
