Woman Run Over, Dragged By Car In McDonald's Parking Lot: Police
A 49-year-old woman collapsed in a Millersville McDonald's parking lot and was then run over and dragged by a car leaving the drive-thru.
MILLERSVILLE, MD — A 49-year-old woman was run over and dragged by a car Sunday night in the McDonald's parking lot near Old Mill Road in Millersville after she collapsed outside the business.
According to the Anne Arundel County Police Department, a Lexus sedan driven by 51-year-old Mary Dulaney of Millersville was turning right to leave the parking lot after exiting the drive-thru and didn't see the woman. Dulaney's car ran over Vanessa Kerwath who was still lying face down in the parking lot. Kerwaath was dragged a short distance before Dulaney stopped her car, a police report disclosed.
Kerwaath, of no known address, was pronounced dead at the scene by Anne Arundel County Fire Department paramedics. The police department believes "pedestrian error" is the primary cause of the crash, which is currently under investigation by the county police department's traffic safety section.
