• Nonprofit vandal suspect trashes police HQ in escape attempt (shorenewsnetwork.com) — Cumberland police say a man accused of damaging a downtown nonprofit also caused additional damage inside police headquarters while briefly struggling with officers during an attempted escape. The suspect, from Burlington, W.Va., now faces multiple destruction-of-property, escape, and resisting charges and is being held at the Allegany County Detention Center. No injuries were reported, and the nonprofit has not been identified.

• Denied Federal Disaster Aid, a Town in Trump Country Feels Forgotten (nytimes.com) — Flood recovery struggles in Allegany County are hitting close to home in Cumberland, where local leaders say FEMA twice denied desperately needed federal aid after Westernport’s devastating May floods.
