Caroline County Boat Ramp Fee Changes (carolinereview.com) — County leaders meeting in Denton have approved higher boat ramp fees for out-of-state users and eliminated single-day passes, while keeping Marylanders’ annual permits at $25. Officials say the changes, set for FY2026, could discourage reckless boating and better align Caroline’s prices with neighboring counties without increasing costs for local residents.
   

2. County Firefighter Tax Credit (carolinereview.com) — Caroline County Commissioners meeting in Denton have approved a new property tax credit for active volunteer firefighters, starting January 24, 2026. Eligible volunteers with three consecutive years of active service can apply for a $250 county property tax break, which will grow by $50 annually until it reaches $500. Local fire company members should review requirements and prepare applications.
   

3. Electrical Fire in Denton Displaces Family of Four, Kills Pet Rabbit (wmdt.com) — A Tuesday afternoon electrical fire in a Denton home displaced two adults and two children and killed the family’s pet rabbit. Denton Volunteer Fire Department crews needed about an hour to control the blaze on Harmony Road, which caused roughly $150,000 in smoke and water damage. The American Red Cross is helping the family find temporary housing.
   

4. Dunkirk man injured in Fatal Caroline Co crash (southernmarylandchronicle.com) — A deadly rollover crash on Greensboro Road near Denton early Sunday killed a Church Hill man and seriously injured a Dunkirk driver, shutting the key connector route for hours. Investigators are reconstructing the scene, analyzing vehicle data, and asking Denton-area drivers or residents who saw anything to contact the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office or Crime Solvers with tips.
