1.5 Million-Square-Foot Warehouse Coming To Tradepoint Atlantic
A major flooring distributor is planning a distribution hub at Tradepoint Atlantic in Baltimore County, officials said, creating 150 jobs.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Floor & Decor will open a 1.5-million-square-foot distribution center at Tradepoint Atlantic, officials announced Thursday. The retailer based in Atlanta operates in 28 states and sells tile, laminate, wood and natural stone flooring and flooring accessories. It has more than 100 stores and is expanding its footprint.
“Adding a new distribution center in Baltimore County to support our expansion into the Northeast marks another milestone in the growth of Floor & Decor," Brian Robbins, Floor & Decor's executive vice president of business development strategy, said in a statement.
When constructed by the end of 2023, the distribution center will be the second largest building in Maryland, according to a news release from the governor's office, and it will generate 150 jobs.

“It’s a big win for Maryland and the Baltimore region that a growing national company like Floor & Decor is choosing to open a new facility and bring 150 new jobs to Tradepoint Atlantic,” Gov. Larry Hogan said in a statement. “Attracting this exciting project to Maryland underscores our commitment to keeping our state open for business and working hard to create new job opportunities for Marylanders.”
The distribution center will join other tenants at the eastern Baltimore County industrial center, such as FedEx and Under Armour.

“We are excited to welcome Floor & Decor, another marquee national brand to Tradepoint Atlantic,” said Eric Gilbert, chief development officer for Tradepoint Atlantic, in a statement. “This massive facility will be the largest import distribution center in Maryland."
Floor & Decor will also be one of the Port of Baltimore’s largest customers.
“Locating their new distribution center in Maryland gives Floor & Decor a competitive advantage to be able to get their products to customers quickly and efficiently,” said Maryland Commerce Secretary Kelly M. Schulz. “From their new facility at Tradepoint Atlantic, Floor & Decor will be in close proximity to the Port of Baltimore, and able to access a number of key interstates to reach one-third of the U.S. population within an overnight drive.”
James J. White, executive director of the MDOT Maryland Port Administration, added that the enhancements planned at the port were a factor.
Formerly known as the home of Bethlehem Steel, Tradepoint Atlantic spans 3,100 acres.
Investors with the Tradepoint firm purchased the land on Sparrows Point Boulevard in 2014 and named the project Tradepoint Atlantic. Bethlehem Steel, which used to employ thousands, ceased operations in 2012.
The firm has marketed Tradepoint Atlantic as an industrial gateway, due to its proximity to the port of Baltimore and railroads.
“By continuing to support the businesses of tomorrow, we can continue Sparrows Point’s transformative redevelopment into a vibrant hub for global commerce," Baltimore County Executive Johnny Olszewski said in a statement.
The Maryland Department of Commerce approved a $700,000 conditional loan through Advantage Maryland, and Baltimore County will provide a $70,000 conditional loan, officials said.
Floor & Decor will also be eligible for the state’s Job Creation Tax Credit, Enterprise Zone tax credits and a training grant through the state’s Partnership for Workforce Quality program, according to the governor's office.
