Burger Bracket: Donna's of Dundalk Faces Greene Turtle

As the NCAA's March Madness basketball tournament marches toward its last rounds of competition, so too does Fox 45's Burger Bracket.

In the television station's quest to find the Baltimore region's best hamburger, a Dundalk restaurant has made it to the Burger Bracket's Final Four.

on the reputation of its Crabby Patty, cruised through the first two rounds of competition and finds itself facing the Hunt Valley Greene Turtle this week in the semi-finals.

In other semi-final action, Dempsey's Brew Pub and Restaurant faces Gunpowder Lodge.

"First, we want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you who have been voting for the past few weeks in Fox 45 Baltimore's Best Burger Contest," Heather Sekora said in an email to Dundalk Patch.  "Without our amazingly loyal customer base, we would not be where we are today!"

In the first round of the competition, Donna's defeated the Charles Village Pub and Patio in Towson, and then bumped off neighboring Poncabird Pub in the second round.

Sekora, whose mother, Donna Sekora, owns the restaurant, said that it's an honor for the eatery to have made it this far in the contest.

"The competition has been tough but in the end, you have voted and advanced Donna's Tavern and Restaurant to the third bracket," she said in the email.

Dundalk residents and other friends of the restaurant can help Donna's advance to the final pairing by registering and voting in the contest.

The voting for Round 3 ends at 11:59 p.m. Sunday, March 31.

The grand champion will be named April 8, according to Fox 45's website.

To thank voters, the restaurant is offering a special deal on the crab patty this Friday and Saturday. From 4 to 7 p.m. both days, diners can enjoy a buy one, get one free deal on the crab burger that is described as a "half-pound black angus burger blended with just the right seasoning, herbs and spices; seared to perfection and topped with our tavern's secret crab dip, Maryland jumbo lump crab meat and blended cheeses to accentuate the crab, dip and yes, the burger too!"

The burger is then placed on a "perfectly toasted split-top bun with crispy lettuce and a red ripe juice tomato."
