Coastal Flood Warning In Dundalk Until Saturday Morning: NWS

DUNDALK, MD — The National Weather Service has issued a coastal flood warning for Dundalk until 6 a.m. Sunday.

On Friday evening, Maryland Governor Larry Hogan issued a state of emergency for 16 counties, including Baltimore County, because of flooding.

A number of roads in Baltimore County are closed, including several in Dundalk.

According to the National Weather Service, the highest tides in 10 to 20 years are expected, with threats including the inundation of water on roads, sidewalks, docks, marinas, and residential and commercial areas.

Strong winds also could cause tree damage, as wind gusts could reach 30 to 40 mph in parts of Maryland and hit 55 mph along the Chesapeake Bay.

High impact tidal flooding is expected into Saturday night, the National Weather Service said. Coastal flood warnings are in effect for many shoreline areas along the Chesapeake Bay and tidal Potomac River through Saturday night. Moderate tidal flooding is expected, and major flooding cannot be ruled out in a few locations.
