Dundalk Daily Deets: More Rain, Red Hot O's, Celebrate the Tube Steak

Five tidbits of information to get your day in Dundalk started.

Here are five things to get your day started:

1. The weather: We should see a high of about 90 degrees today, in spite of mostly cloudy skies and a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 9 a.m, according to the National Weather Service. There's a 50 percent chance of precipitation. Tonight's low will be about 74 degrees, with another chance of showers before 9 p.m.

2. From history.com's This Day in History: "On this day in 1984, 21-year-old Vanessa Williams gives up her Miss America title, the first resignation in the pageant's history, after Penthouse magazine announces plans to publish nude photos of the beauty queen in its September issue. Williams originally made history on September 17, 1983, when she became the first black woman to win the Miss America crown. Miss New Jersey, Suzette Charles, the first runner-up and also an African American, assumed Williams' tiara for the two months that remained of her reign."

3. Red Hot Orange: How about 'dem O's, hon? The red hot Baltimore Orioles defeated the Kansas City Royals, 9-2, in Kansas City Monday night. It was the team's fifth straight win and came on the heels of a three-game sweep of the Texas Rangers.

4. Do you belong to a local organization with a meeting, event, trip or any other kind of gathering to publicize? Add it to our Calendar of Events.

5. Don't forget today is National Hot Dog Day. Whether you plan to fire up your own grill or take Donna's Tavern and Restaurant up on its offer of a free tube steak (with the purchase of any beverage), be sure to celebrate this occasion!
