Dundalk This Week: Free Hot Dog, Free Concert, Weight Loss Jackpot

Here are five tidbits of information to get your week started.

This week in Dundalk, it looks like we will get a break from last week's hot, hot, hot weather—it will just be hot this week.

The folks at Donna's Tavern and Restaurant invite you to stop in Tuesday and celebrate National Hot Dog Day and the Dundalk Concerts in the Parks series continues Thursday.

Here are five pieces of information to get your week started:

1. After a solid week of temperatures in the high 90s and heat index readings as high as 110 degrees, Dundalk will get a break this week with average temperatures in the high 80s.

According to the National Weather Service, the temperature will range from 86 to 89 degrees most of the week, with significant chances of thunderstorms Monday through Thursday. The nighttime temperatures will range from 71 to 76 degrees.

2. From history.com's This Day in History: "On this day in 2003, U.S. Army Private Jessica Lynch, a prisoner-of-war who was rescued from an Iraqi hospital, receives a hero's welcome when she returns to her hometown of Palestine, West Virginia. The story of the 19-year-old supply clerk, who was captured by Iraqi forces in March 2003, gripped America; however, it was later revealed that some details of Lynch's dramatic capture and rescue might have been exaggerated."

3. National Hot Dog Day is Tuesday. The folks at Donna's Tavern and Restaurant invite you to stop in between 3 and 6 p.m. and enjoy a free hot dog (with the purchase of any beverage).

4. It looks alike a few details still need to be worked out, but a community-wide weight loss challenge is slated to begin Wednesday.

5. The Dundalk Concerts in the Park series at Heritage park continues Thursday with a performance by Rock Ridge (bluegrass, Americana country) at 6:30 p.m.
