Lacks Biography a Popular Baltimore County Summer Read

Author James Patterson has three titles on Baltimore County Public Library's July list of its most borrowed books.

With July, a big vacation month, in the history books, circulation reports from Baltimore County Public Library officials are providing some insight as to what people are reading this summer.

James Patterson books are proving to be popular summer reads for library patrons.

Patterson has three titles— Private: #1 Suspect, Guilty Wives and Private Games: A Novel—in the Top 10 most borrowed fiction books in July, according to library system reports.

Topping the fiction list is Wicked Business: A Lizzy and Diesel Novel by Janet Evanovich.

The erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey, which has garnered much publicity since its publication, was No. 4 on the nonfiction list.

A book about a Turner Station woman was at the No. 3 post in the nonfiction Top 10 most borrowed list. The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot was borrowed by 178 readers in July.

The book is about the woman whose cancer cells were harvested, grown in laboratories and eventually used in medical research across the world, all without the family's knowledge or permission.

No. 1 on the nonfiction list for July, with 271 borrowers, was Deborah Feldman's Unorthodox: The Scandalous Rejection of My Hasidic Roots.

The library system's total circulation for July, including books, DVDs, magazines and everything else offered was 1,027,316, according to system spokesman Bob Hughes.
