Rebecca Ann Smith, 34, Capital Gazette Saleswoman
A visitation and funeral service for the Dundalk woman killed in the shooting at The Capital will be held at Duda-Ruck Funeral Home.

DUNDALK, MD -- A visitation and funeral service for Rebecca Ann Smith are planned for Sunday, July 8. Smith, 34, was one of five people killed at The Capital in Annapolis on June 28.
Smith is survived by fiancé Dewayne Poling, Jr. and his daughter Rileigh; mother Beth Ann Rittenour; grandmother Catherine Malinowski; siblings Steven, Jamie and Cindi Rittenour; goddaughters Grace and Sophia Kaskel and a large extended family and many friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfather William Malinowski.
A moment of silence on Thursday, July 5, was held to honor the victims of the shooting.

Smith was a newcomer to the Capital Gazette, joining the staff last year as a sales assistant. She had worked in marketing for a health care organization.
Her boss, advertising director Marty Padden, said she was "very thoughtful" as well as "kind and considerate, and willing to help when needed," according to a Capital Gazette account. "She seemed to really enjoy working in the media business," Padden said.

Smith described herself in her Facebook profile as a survivor of endometriosis and "Dog Mom. Softball Fiance. Bonus Mom to the best kid ever."
A softball tournament in Smith's honor raised more than $10,000 in Westminster on Saturday, according to the Carroll County Times, which reported her fiance played on a team there. Funds raised will go toward funeral expenses and to assist him and his daughter, the Times reported.
A receiving of friends will be held at the family owned Duda-Ruck Funeral Home of Dundalk at 7922 Wise Avenue on Sunday, July 8, 2018, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday at 7 p.m.
