64 Displaced From Dundalk Apartments After Storm: BCFD

Tenants in Dundalk were forced to stay elsewhere after a Friday night storm blew the roofs off two apartment buildings.

DUNDALK, MD — The roofs blew off two apartment buildings in Dundalk Friday night amid a severe thunderstorm, displacing 64 people, according to authorities. Nobody was injured, officials reported.

The storm damage occurred around 10:07 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, in the 6100 block of Four Georges Court, according to Baltimore County emergency management officials.

There were 40 adults and 24 children who had to find another place to live afterward, officials said.

While most of those impacted have found places to stay with relatives and friends, a shelter was set up to assist those who need help at the Ateaze Senior Center at 7401 Holabird Avenue, according to Baltimore County's Office of Emergency Management.

The residents will be displaced for an "extended period," according to authorities.

More than 1,000 people in Baltimore County were without power as of 11:20 p.m., according to the BGE outage map.

Of the 1,028 outages in Baltimore County, BGE reported that 951 were in the Dundalk and Edegemere area.

Among those experiencing outages was Jimmy's Famous Seafood, which announced it was closing after 11 p.m.

Baltimore County was under a severe thunderstorm warning until 10:15 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2, according to the National Weather Service.

Two people died in a partial building collapse at the Amazon fulfillment center, officials reported.

Trees were uprooted and a shopping center roof caved in on itself in Mt. Airy in Carroll County.
