Water Spouts Possible Over Maryland Waters: Weather Officials
BREAKING NEWS: Boaters are warned to seek safe harbor immediately, as severe weather capable of producing water spouts has been spotted.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — A severe thunderstorm capable of producing water spouts was spotted over North Point State Park Sunday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Boaters are advised to seek shelter until the hazardous weather passes.
Radar showed a severe thunderstorm capable of producing waterspouts over North Point State Park at 4:13 p.m. moving southeast, according to the weather service. Waterspouts and wind gusts of at least 50 knots were among the hazards.
Baltimore County Emergency Management asked people to stay inside due to the number of emergency calls being dispatched. Dozens of weather-related calls were in progress before 4:30 p.m.

Vehicles were stuck in water and basements were flooded, officials said.

"Waterspouts can easily overturn boats," officials said. Boaters can be thrown overboard without warning.

The special marine warning is in effect until 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, May 27.
