6 Local Educators Nominated for Teacher of the Year
Teachers from Southern High, Mayo Elementary, Davidsonville Elementary, Tracey's Elementary and Lothian Elementary were all tapped as nominees this year.

Six teachers from local schools are among the fifty-six top educators in the county nominated as candidates for the 2014 Anne Arundel County teacher of the year.
Melissa Norwood, a dance teacher at Southern High School; Jane Newton, a teacher at Southern Middle School; Jennifer Suzanne Mobley, a teacher at Mayo Elementary School; Patricia Mederios, a teacher at Tracey's Elementary School; Dianne Lloyd, a teacher at Davidsonville Elementary School and Julie Castillo, a teacher from Lothian Elementary Schools were all among the nominees.
All 53 public school teachers and three private school teachers will be celebrated at the 28th annual Excellence in Education banquet in April 2014, sponsored by the Annapolis & Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce.
The winner will be announced at the event, and will go on to represent the county in the Maryland State Teacher of the year competition.
