BOOM: 4 Teens Charged in Mailbox Explosions

Anne Arundel County police arrested four Davidsonville teenagers early Thursday morning on vandalism and other charges after they allegedly blew up two mailboxes Wednesday night. 

Shortly after 1 a.m. Thursday morning, police responded to several 911 calls and reports of possible shots fired in the 1500 block of Patuxent Manor Road in Davidsonville.

As officers were responded to the area, another call came in reporting a mailbox had been blown up in the area. Police say they could hear "explosions" and stopped all vehicle traffic as a result.

Police stopped a 4-door Toyota near Ivy Drive in Harwood. Inside the vehicle were four teens and fireworks in the car,  that police say linked them to the destruction of a mailbox in Davidsonville and a second mailbox on Stocketts Run Road in Harwood.

One 17-year-old Davidsonville resident, who was driving the vehicle, and was charged with DUI, marijuana possession, possession of fireworks without a permit as well as two counts of manufacturing, and possessing and the use of a destructive device. Charges were issued on a juvenile citation.

Police also charged passengers and Davidsonville residents Arthur Corrin Reith, 19, Carter Robert Harrison, 18, and James Thomas Stevens, 19, with marijuana possession, possession of fireworks without a permit, two counts of manufacturing a destructive device, two counts of possessing a destructive device and two counts of  the use of a destructive device.

Reith was also charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
