Celebrate Spring with Free Italian Ice at Rita's

The summertime dessert specialists are once again giving away Italian ice to celebrate the first day of spring.

It seems Mother Nature didn’t get the memo about Tuesday being the first day of spring.

After numerous days of gorgeous weather, it’s disappointing that the first day of the new season would be gray and somewhat wet.

Regardless of the weather, the local is still giving away free regular-sized Italian ice all day. That’s right, it’s free.

From noon to 9 p.m. Tuesday, residents can get a free tasty treat from the in Edgewater. 

For the past 19 years, Rita’s has been giving away free Italian ice on the first day of spring each year, and 2012 is no different. Just walk up to the counter, order a regular Italian ice and bask in its deliciousness.

According to the Rita’s Italian Ice website, the summertime dessert specialists gave away 1.2 million cups of Italian ice during 2011’s first day of spring.
