Deale Garage Fire Causes $60K in Damages

When firefighters arrived at the scene, the garage was fully engulfed in flames.

A garage fire in Deale caused about $60,000 worth of damages Sunday night, according to Chief Michael Cox of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

At about 6:16 p.m., firefighters received a call of a garage fire at the 5500 block of Carvel Street. When they arrived, they found a garage that was fully engulfed in flames, Cox said.

It took about 25 firefighters nearly 20 minutes to get the fire under control, said the fire department spokesman.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but Cox said the flames caused about $60,000 in damages to the garage and its contents. The house adjacent to the garage suffered some heat damage as well due to the incident, costing about $1,500 in damages, Cox said.
