Edgewater Books Hosting Soft Opening Monday

The bookstore will open for business at 951 Central Ave. on Monday.

Reading enthusiasts get ready to shop—Edgewater Books is opening on Monday.

Owner Ken Kennedy said Monday's debut will be a "soft opening," and the store will host the official grand opening in September—when more of their supplies have arrived.

However, for Monday Kennedy said there will be plenty to choose from.

"We have most of our inventory but will be adding new books and inventory as they come in over the next few weeks," Kennedy said. "[Customers] will find a large selection of books as well as lot of different science and art activities for the kids."

The art room at Edgewater Book is still being worked on, so Kennedy said many of the art books and projects will be displayed in the main store area and then later moved to the art room.

Kennedy said the store will offer a lot of non-fiction books relating to history, science and math, as well as fiction books and series that kids may already be familiar with.

In September, Edgewater Book will begin offering storytime and after school programs.

"We are most excited to be offering a store that has been needed in the area for a long time," Kennedy said. "A place where kids can come and let their imaginations run wild and explore books and worlds that they may not know are available."
