Edgewater Couple Hopes to Win 'Best Proposal' Contest

Jacklyn Hennen and Scott Lehr are doing everything they can to win a cash prize to help pay for their wedding.

When Edgewater’s Jacklyn Hennen was proposed to, three different guys were down on one knee.

That’s because Hennen’s fiancé Scott Lehr didn’t propose on his own—he had the help of his two sons, Scotty and Gabe.

Hennen said yes, and now the soon-to-be family seeks the public’s help in winning a wedding contest sponsored by David’s Bridal with a prize of $2,500 to help pay for the wedding or honeymoon.

Hennen and Lehr are just one of many couples competing in the Share Your Love competition on David’s Bridal’s Facebook page. Currently in the running for “Best Proposal,” Hennen and Lehr hope the Edgewater community can help push their proposal to the top.

“On Sept. 24, Scott had a big birthday party planned for me. Right before opening gifts, Scott and his two sons, Scotty and Gabe, all got down on one knee and asked ‘Will you marry us?’” Hennen said. “I think I am the only person that had three guys down on one knee all at once. I am so lucky.”

They plan to tie the knot in September at Mayo Beach with a “country wedding.” Hennen said the whole wedding party will be wearing boots.
