Edgewater Man Interrupts Burglary, Detains Suspect
The victim found the suspect in his garage and detained him until police arrived, according to police.

An Edgewater man interrupted a would-be burglar on his property in the 1400 block of Shesley Pl. Saturday and detained him until police arrived, according to a release issued by Anne Arundel County police.
The victim told police that he was sitting in his living room watching television on Saturday afternoon when he saw the suspect coming up his driveway. The victim went outside to find the suspect, but did not see him.
At this point, the victim went to look for the suspect in his garage. He found the suspect with an item at his waist, and presumed this item was a weapon, according to police. The victim told police that he stopped the suspect, threw him to the ground and held him there while his wife called 911.
When police arrived, they found the suspect, 29-year-old Matthew Chrismer of no fixed address, pinned to the floor of the garage by the victim.
Police found alcohol and other items from the victim's garage in Chrismer's possession. Chrismer was arrested and charged with first and third degree burglary.
