Families Attend Greenstreet Gardens to Support Wetlands

All of the money from the fundraiser Sunday morning went to the Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary, operated by the Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks Department.

Greenstreet Gardens entertained local families with puppets and wildlife classes Sunday morning to raise funds for the Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary.

Two puppet show performances kept children busy while others learned how to spot different types of birds. While holding “The Great Backyard Bird Count,” families tried to spot pretend birds in a greenhouse and made “bird treats” to hang at home.

The Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary is operated by the Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks Department and was established in 1985. The goal of the sanctuary is to preserve the 1,600 acres of tidal freshwater wetlands, forests, meadows and fields along the Patuxent River, according to its website.
