Firefighters Come to Aid of Boater on South River

A 23-foot vessel needed help from fireboats Tuesday after it began taking on water.

Anne Arundel County firefighters came to the aid of a boater on the South River Tuesday night after his vessel began taking on water, according to a fire department spokesman.

At 7:13 p.m. Tuesday, fireboat crews received a report of a 23-foot vessel that was taking on water with one person on board, according to Anne Arundel County Fire Department Division Chief Michael Cox.

Upon arrival, the fireboats found an occupant that was uninjured and helped the person direct the damaged boat to a nearby marina. Cox said he didn’t know the gender of the boat owner.

No one was injured during the rescue effort and the boat made it safely to the marina, Cox said.
