Greene Turtle Sports Bar to Collect 'Tips for Tots' Statewide

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Employees at participating The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille locations across Maryland will donate 100 percent of the tips they earn on Wednesday, Dec. 7, to Toys for Tots as part of The Greene Turtle's 11th annual “Tips for Tots” initiative across communities in Maryland, according to a news release.

The Greene Turtle will also conduct raffles and silent auctions throughout the day to raise money. The Greene Turtle Franchising Corporation will add a matching $500 donation for each participating location that earns $1,000 in tips. Last year, The Greene Turtle raised more than $70,000 for local Toys for Tots programs, and this year its goal is to raise more than $90,000 to help give children a happier holiday season.

The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys and distribute them as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children. During the first ten years of Tips for Tots, The Greene Turtle has donated more than a quarter of a million dollars in purchased toys to local Toys for Tots programs through the tips donated by employees, donations from the corporate offices and additional gifts donated by other members of the community.

Many of the participating locations will also feature special entertainment, events and additional fundraisers, including:

• Aberdeen: Chinese auction (including items ranging from gift baskets to free hotel stays), a Bake Sale and a 50/50 Raffle
• Edgewater: Live music with Ken Fisher from 5 pm – 9 pm, Pops for Tots, Santa Claus visit on a fire truck and a Bake Sale
• Hanover: DJ Merlen from 5 pm – 8 pm, Pops for Tots and a Bake Sale
• Olney: Live Music, Pops for Tots and a Bake Sale
