Greenstreet Gardens Expands Business to Virginia

The Lothian business recently acquired Applehouse Garden Center in Alexandria, VA.

Greenstreet Gardens announced it will add another location to its business after it recently purchased Applehouse Garden Center in Alexandria, VA.

The full-service garden center, which is based in Lothian, has been looking to expand for some time, but it wasn’t until recently that they were able to solidify an addition, said Greenstreet Garden Vice President Stacy Greenstreet.

“We’ve been looking in Virginia for a couple years,” Greenstreet said. “Applehouse Gardens is in a great place, it’s really a good spot.”

The new property is located close to two very busy roads in a densely populated area, Greenstreet said. Plus, the area residents seem to be big fans of their services.

“Alexandrians love gardens,” Greenstreet said.

“Alexandria is a wonderful area with great people. We are excited about this location and becoming part of the community,” said President Ray Greenstreet in a recent press release.

Located at 1721 West Braddock Rd. in Alexandria, Applehouse Garden Center opened 39 years ago but its owner recently decided to retire, creating the perfect opportunity for expansion, Greenstreet said.

Applehouse Gardens never closed and will transition into Greenstreet Gardens over time. However, managers from the Lothian location are expected to travel to the VA location about once a week, Stacy Greenstreet said.

“[Applehouse] really needed a face-lift and a fresh coat of paint,” Greenstreet said.

Both locations will remain open and will not close while Applehouse Garden Center transitions into Greenstreet Gardens. The Lothian business is not expected to change at all during the expansion period, Greenstreet said.
