HOA Raises Money to Support Woodland Beach Firefighters
More than $800 was raised by local residents to help the volunteer fire department build its new station.
A local homeowner’s association raised $875 for the Woodland Beach Volunteer Fire Department (WBVFD) with a special Oktoberfest event held last Friday.
The volunteer fire department has been continually seeking to raise funds to build a new fire station on the corner of Solomons Island Road and Central Avenue.
In partnership with more than 11 local businesses, residents gathered at The Greene Turtle in Edgewater to enjoy food, music, raffle prizes and some pleasant pre-Sandy weather. Even though the event was closed to the public, The Greene Turtle’s outdoor tent was packed with people from 6-9 p.m. last Friday.
