Anne Arundel firefighters battled a two-alarm house fire in Shady Side caused $100,000 in damages. Two adults and a dog were displaced as a result of the blaze.

Wharfside Bar and Grill will soon be getting a new look, name and ownership. The restaurant’s current owners will hand the business over the their son. Wharfside Bar and Grill’s last day will be Sunday. It plans to reopen as Chad’s BBQ by early June.

A local woman and former Anne Arundel County school teacher plans to open a tutoring and therapy center this summer for kids who need a little extra help in school. Riva native and South River High graduate Stephanie Lowery will open Thinktank Education and Therapy at 224E Mayo Rd. on June 3.
6 Hurt In Memorial Day Explosion on South River
Six of nine passengers on a boat were injured when the boat exploded Monday afternoon.
Due to weather conditions, the teens could not be airlifted, but were transported to the Shock Trauma center in Baltimore with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
