Monday Night Briefing to Explain Local Redistricting

Parents affected by the superintendent's redistricting proposal are invited to attend a briefing at Central Elementary Monday night.

A  that could move about 100 students from  to  will be explained thoroughly Monday night in Edgewater.

Parents affected by the proposed move are invited to attend a briefing at 7 p.m., according to a release by Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS).

“Those attending will receive information ... and will have an opportunity to ask questions, but no public testimony will be taken,” according to the release.

On Jan. 18, the Anne Arundel County Board of Education chose the redistricting proposal initially offered by superintendent Kevin Maxwell. The plan is identical to the and community residents who studied various options.

In it, about 100 students from Central Elementary could move to Davidsonville Elementary, and children from Waterford, Berkshire and Annapolis Landing will be redistricted to Davidsonville.

A public hearing is scheduled for March 20 to discuss the plan. The final proposal must be adopted by April 30 to go into effect by the beginning of the 2012-2013 school year.
