Laura Neuman, 46, a native of Anne Arundel County and the CEO of the Howard County Economic Development Authority, was named the new Anne Arundel County Executive. Neuman was sworn into office in front of the Anne Arundel County Courthouse in downtown Annapolis.

A local pup took center stage in New York to show off his good looks at the Westminster Dog Show. Davidsonville local Blanket Rocketship, a Bernese Mountain dog, competed in the working dog group.

 is opening a new location inside the Kmart on Solomons Island Road. A store manager at Kmart confirmed that plans for a Little Caesars Pizza are in the works, however they could not give an exact opening or construction date because they are still waiting on permits from the county.

A Harwood man was killed on Feb. 16 after the car he was driving crashed into a home in Hillside Avenue. Police said Ryan Douglas Anderson, 20, of Harwood succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash at 9:02 p.m. on Feb. 16.

Crews Battle Car Fire on Route 50

Firefighters battled a car fire on Route 50 East near the exit for Davidsonville Road on Feb. 28. It took just one engine to battle the blaze and no one was injured.
