North Beach Man Charged with Attempted Murder

Anne Arundel County police said Kenneth William Mitchell shot his girlfriend while the two were in an argument Friday morning.

A south county man has been charged with attempted first-degree murder after he allegedly shot his girlfriend in the upper body during an argument Friday morning in North Beach.

Officers arrested Kenneth William Mitchell II, 34, of the 600 block of Alabama Avenue, Friday morning for allegedly shooting his girlfriend, 26, according to a release by the Anne Arundel County Police Department.

Around 2:05 a.m. Friday, officers were alerted of a domestic-related shooting on the 600 block of Alabama Avenue in North Beach. Mitchell pulled out a gun and shot the woman while arguing at the residence on Alabama Avenue, according to police.

“The suspect was located and arrested without incident,” the release stated.

The victim was found at a neighbor’s home on the 7000 block of Charleston Avenue. She is in “serious but stable condition” at Prince George’s Shock Trauma, according to police.

Southern District detectives are assisting in the investigation.

Mitchell is being charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
