Killed Pedestrian Seen 'Running Into Roadway'
Dek: Officials are investigating whether the incident is connected to a nearby fire that was discovered around the same time.

UPDATE (10:10 a.m. Tuesday)—A 55-year-old woman was fatally struck Monday night by a Chevrolet Tahoe in the 5500 block of Muddy Creek Road, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
“[The Tahoe] was traveling south on Muddy Creek Road when it encountered a female pedestrian running into the roadway,” according to a police press release.
Anne Arundel County Fire Department Lt. Keith Hamilton said a bystander was administering CPR to the woman before she died. Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene after they responded to the area around 8:55 p.m., according to the press release.

Police identified the woman as Cheryl Ann Howes, 55, of the 5700 block of Blaine Road in Churchton.
According to police, a witness told officers they saw the 55-year-old woman running from the camper trailer and into the roadway before the Tahoe hit her.

Also around 8:55 p.m., emergency crews got a call of a camper trailer fire in the same hundred-block of Muddy Creek Road.
"Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division are working in conjunction with Fire Investigators from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department to determine any possible connection between the two incidents and if foul play was involved," the press release stated.
"Our guys are going to investigate it from all avenues to make sure no criminal activity was not involved," Anne Arundel County police Lt. Michael Brothers said. “And make sure we’re not overlooking anything.”
Anne Arundel County Police Department PIO Justin Mulcahy said, "[We're] Looking to determine what if any connection the incidents have or if there was any foul play involved."
