Despite competing with local St. Patrick’s Day festivities, more than 300 people attended this year’s at the on Saturday.

“It was a wonderful day to think about the environment and Mother Nature cooperated,” said Lara Mulvaney, master watershed steward for the South River and expo planning committee member.

The weather was in the 70s and local residents had the opportunity to meander past various tables, ranging from unique gardens to rain barrels.

One of the highlights of the day came when a group of Davidsonville Boy Scouts planted an Eastern Redbud tree with Maryland State Sen. Ed Reilly (R-Crofton), Mulvaney said. Attendants received free seedling for Maryland trees, Mulvaney said.

“We were very pleased with the turnout and the weather, of course, was wonderful,” Mulvaney said. “Hopefully people will be thinking about how to conserve energy and make good decisions for the environment.”
