Feb. 28—
A four-car accident on Mayo Road in front of sent three people to the hospital and caused significant traffic delays Tuesday afternoon.

A man sustained life-threatening injuries Monday night when his truck went across two oncoming lanes and struck a tree on Maryland Route 2 near Poplar Point Road, authorities said.
The 1998 Chevy pickup truck was traveling south when it “failed to remain in the center,” Anne Arundel County Police Department spokesman Justin Mulcahy told Patch in an email.
“The vehicle traveled across the two northbound lanes and left the roadway, striking a tree in the front yard of the 2600 block of Solomons Island Road,” according to Mulcahy.
Feb. 24—
Police flew a 34-year-old woman to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore Thursday afternoon after she suffered life-threatening injuries in a car accident in Deale.
Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman Lt. Cliff Kooser told Patch emergency crews responded to the accident at about 1:50 p.m. Thursday. The incident reportedly occurred at the intersection of Deale and Deale Churchton roads.
Feb. 22—
A two-car collision in Lothian resulted in a 27-year-old man having serious but not life-threatening injuries Wednesday morning around 4:45 a.m.
"A blue Mazda went off the road and struck a pole. At some point, a second vehicle, possibly a pickup truck, then struck the Mazda," Anne Arundel County police spokesman Justin Mulcahy told Patch in an email.
Feb. 21—
A 46-year-old man was flown to an unknown hospital early Tuesday after he swerved to miss a deer and struck a tree on Muddy Creek Road in Galesville, according to Anne Arundel County Police spokesman Justin Mulcahy.
The man was driving a 1990 Volvo and was approaching Crandell Road when he hit the tree around 4 a.m., Mulcahy wrote in an email to Patch.
Feb. 17—
Police said they arrested two men on drug charges Thursday in Lothian after they tracked down a car suspected of driving through an accident scene.
According to a release from the Anne Arundel County Police Department, officers were conducting an investigation of a traffic accident in the area of Maryland Route 4 and Plummer Lane in Lothian when a silver Buick tried to drive through the scene.
Feb. 16—
Anne Arundel County Police arrested an Edgewater woman and a Crofton man Wednesday after finding $1,969 worth of suspected powder and crack cocaine in a Crofton home.
After collecting evidence, police said they executed a search warrant at the home where they found $2,000 in cash, 5.4 grams of suspected powder cocaine, 12.5 grams of suspected crack cocaine and 1.8 grams of suspected marijuana.
Feb. 4—
Cpl. Rick Bobby Alexander, 36, of the Anne Arundel County Police Department, was charged Friday with conspiracy to distribute cocaine and marijuana, in addition to three other charges.
Alexander is accused of warning "approximately five suspects" of an investigation in Shady Side so they could hide their drugs ahead of time, according to a police release.
Feb. 2—
A four-car collision on Maryland Route 214 shut down the major road in both directions and sent two women to the hospital Thursday evening, according to Anne Arundel County Fire Department Chief Michael Cox.
The 27-year-old sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries, Cox said. A second woman, estimated to be in her 50s, also suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries. Both were taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.
