Riva's David Correy Eliminated From X Factor
His 853,000 Twitter followers were crushed when X Factor Judge L.A. Reid selected another competitor over their beloved David Correy.
Despite his fans’ displeasure, Riva’s hometown star David Correy was eliminated from The X Factor last week after judge L.A. Reid chose Jason Brock to stay in the competition.
Correy, a 26-year-old from Riva, captured the hearts of thousands over the course of a few weeks as he wowed the show’s fans and judges with his vocals and his personal story. An adopted child, Correy initially went on The X Factor to become a star and hopefully use his voice to connect with his Brazilian birth mother.
His captivating personality and unique vocal tone helped the local man make the list of final 16 competitors, but he was eliminated from the show Thursday night after Reid selected Brock over Correy.

“I just want to say I’ve been through a lot in my life like we all have, but it’s never stopped me,” Correy said. “I promise you this is not gonna be the last time you see my face. Don’t ever give up on what you love.”
