Shady Side Announced as New Location for Next County Boat Ramp
County Executive Steve Schuh announced the plans for discovery village.
Continuing with his commitment to expand water access in Anne Arundel County, County Executive Steve Schuh today announced plans for Discovery Village in Shady Side to be the next site of a county-operated trailered boat ramp.
“Expanding water access is a key priority of my administration,” said Schuh. “Our announcement today is another major step in our all-out effort to bring our citizens closer to the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. Shady Side is the perfect place for a South County boat ramp.”

The $519,000 project plans include a new pier, boat ramp, and expanded parking infrastructure. The current proposal calls for construction on the project to begin in December 2017 and be completed by June 2018.
During the event, the County Executive also cut the ribbon on a new canoe and kayak boat launch for citizens to immediately enjoy. The new location will now be one of eighteen smaller launches in the county, and does not require a permit to use.
