South River Grad Named Lacrosse Defenseman of the Year

Michael Evans was recently named the 2013 Examiner Defenseman of the Year in Major League Lacrosse.

A former South River High School lacrosse standout was recently named lacrosse defenseman of the year. 

According to the Examiner, Michael Evans was named the 2013 Examiner Defenseman of the Year in Major League Lacrosse (MLL). Evans, a South River and Johns Hopkins graduate now plays for the Chesapeake Bayhawks.

The Examiner reports, Evans is a four-time MLL All-Star and two-time champion in his five seasons with the Bayhawks. While at Hopkins, Evans was a first-team All-American and won the Schmeisser Award as NCAA Division I Defenseman of the Year.

At South River, Evans lettered in football, lacrosse and basketball. According to the Bayhawks, he was a three-time captain in lacrosse, two-time All-League pick as well as an All-met, and All-American selection as a senior.
