1. Edgewater Books Hosting Soft Opening Monday
Reading enthusiasts get ready to shop—Edgewater Books is opening on Monday. 
Owner Ken Kennedy said Monday's debut will be a "soft opening," and the store will host the official grand opening in September—when more of their supplies have arrived. 

2. Child Parent Counseling Comes to Edgewater
A local mom and licensed therapist is helping area kids and their families better communicate with the help of toys. Kelly McNew, a Riva resident and mother of two, opened Child Parent Counseling on Mayo Road in July. 

3. Edgewater Chick-fil-A Closed Until After Labor Day
The Edgewater Chick-fil-A is now closed for a remodel. In July, Patch reported the fast-food chain would close temporarily as construction work began on the drive-thru.

4. Photographing Pups for a Worthy Cause
Visual Concepts in Davidsonville is offering pet portraits for the Dog Days of Summer campaign to benefit Canine Companions for Independence (CCI). 

5. What's Going on with La Fiesta?
Has anyone been to La Fiesta Mexican Restaurant in Edgewater recently? It appears the business may be closed. A wooden door and padlock are currently on the front entrance to La Fiesta, and the phone seems to have been disconnected.
