Last week was filled with national attention, both for Maryland and Edgewater-Davidsonville Patch. The top stories ranged from a local mom’s pursuit of her dreams and Maryland’s House of Delegates passing the same-sex marriage bill.

No. 1—An Edgewater business helped construct a female Air Force veteran’s dream motorcycle. A flowing American flag design covered the entire vehicle.

No. 3—Anne Arundel County’s Board of Education adopted its budget for fiscal year 2013, including money allotted to raise teacher salaries and hire 62 new educators.
The budget now heads to County Executive John R. Leopold, where many believe the teacher salary increases will be cut.
No. 4—After reviewing incident records from the Anne Arundel County Police Department, Patch learned 104 accidents have occurred at the intersection of Maryland Route 214 and Muddy Creek Road between 2009 and Dec. 4, 2011.
Labeled a “failed intersection” by the Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works (DPW), community members have long waited to see additional turn lanes constructed.
No. 5—The Maryland House of Delegates approved a same-sex marriage bill Friday night in a close vote—72 votes in favor and 67 against.
Delegate Robert Costa of Anne Arundel County was one of only two Republicans to vote for the bill.
