1. Police Say Southern High Student Brought Weapons to School
Police arrested a 17-year-old student at Southern High on Tuesday morning for reportedly bringing a knife and CO2-powered pellet gun to the school, according to an Anne Arundel County Police Department press release. No threats were made, and police said the incident was resolved quickly.

2. Davidsonville Family Devotes Itself to Nepalese Children
After their son’s life-changing bike ride through Asia and a couple trips to Nepal later, Davidsonville’s John and Barbara Church now run a not-for-profit organization that seeks to aid and support about 92 Nepalese children more than 7,000 miles away from their home in Davidsonville. 3. Davidsonville Park and Ride Set to Double in Size
The amount of parking spots at the Davidsonville Park and Ride lot is scheduled to double in the next year thanks to a construction project developed and funded by the State Highway Administration. Scheduled to be completed in the fall or winter of 2013, the State Highway Administration (SHA) will add 240 spaces to the lot that currently holds 210 parking spaces.

4. Hate Crime Fugitive Arrested by U.S. Marshals in Edgewater
U.S. Marshals arrested a fugitive in Edgewater on Wednesday for violating his probation related to a conviction for a hate crime as well as weapon and drug possession charges, according to a U.S. Marshals spokesman. Before learning exactly what happened, residents in the area flooded Patch’s Facebook page inquiring about what was going on.

5. Riva's David Correy Advances in X Factor USA
Riva man and X Factor rising star David Correy recently earned a spot in the popular television show’s round of 16. Last week before judges Justin Bieber and L.A. Reid, Correy performed Jessie J’s Domino. It was a performance good enough to advance Correy to the show’s final list of 16 singers. Watch the video here.
