Route 4 was closed until 6:30 a.m. Wednesday and a 27-year-old man suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries in the accident, officials said.

A two-car collision in Lothian resulted in a 27-year-old man having serious but not life-threatening injuries Wednesday morning around 4:45 a.m.

"A blue Mazda went off the road and struck a pole. At some point, a second vehicle, possibly a pickup truck, then struck the Mazda," Anne Arundel County police spokesman Justin Mulcahy told Patch in an email.

Both Mulcahy and county fire department spokesman Lt. Cliff Kooser confirmed the accident took place on northbound Maryland Route 4 near Maryland Route 258. The roadway was closed between 5 and 6:30 a.m., according to Mulcahy.
